Carissa Carandas, commonly known as Karonda, is a small, sharp, acid fruit that grows in India on thorny bushes during the summer months. The plant is super tolerant, thriving in bad soil, high temperatures, full sun, shade, heavy rain and several months of no rain. The fruit is extremely sour and tastes somewhat similar to lingonberry. Thai people often eat the fruit half raw with salt, sugar and chili powder.
