One of the more deliciously flavoured variants of traditional pizzas is, without a doubt, Capsicum pizza. A new twist in the perfectly saut ed crisp capsicum (bell peppers), this flavour is known for its crunchy texture and slightly sweet taste, pairing perfectly with the cheese melt, a tangy tomato sauce, and the soft, golden crust. In a word, this is the perfect pizza: begins with a bed of classic pizza dough, crisped along the edges and flaccid, chewy within; smooth layers of tangy tomato sauce cover that, seasoned with a mix of Italian herbs like oregano, basil, and garlic providing a rich, aromatic base for those layers on top. The hero ingredient, capsicum, is sliced into thin strips and evenly spread over the sauce. The added crunch and a little burst of colour provided by the capsicum balance out the savoury flavours from the cheese and the sauce. And on top of this pizza is a relatively extravagant sprinkling of mozzarella cheese - rich and creamy in texture, melting down and infusing well. Other toppings that could add flavour include olives, onions, or perhaps even a sprinkling of chilli flakes, depending on taste. Finally, the pizza gets baked under high heat, allowing the cheese to bubble up while the crust crisps. The result is a pizza that combines the richness of cheese and sauce with the freshness of the vegetable topping. Capsicum pizza is an indulgence for the taste buds and beautiful when we speak about its visual appeal in terms of its bright colours.
