The Drumstick soup recipe is a popular dish prepared from drumsticks, also known as *Moringa oleifera*, a vegetable with many health benefits. This soup can be served as a light, clear broth by using a combination of spices, herbs, and vegetables. The earthy, slightly sweet undertones and a hint of bitterness of the drumsticks are added to the dish because of the long, green, and fibrous pods it is. The soft inner pulp of the drumstick is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants like vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and iron, making the soup not only flavourful but also very nutritious. Adding layers to the base include drumsticks, onions, tomatoes, garlic, and ginger. The warmth of spices such as turmeric, cumin, coriander, and black pepper somewhat brings up the heat in the soup. This soup is used as a starter or light meal. It becomes a trendy beverage during winter or for someone getting better from illness due to its nourishing properties only comfort food; its consumption will increase your immunity, ease digestion, and give you anti-inflammatory benefits. Variations of the soup may be available in houses of South Indians who add coconut milk and lentils for added texture and richness. In total, drumstick soup is a nice marriage between taste and health.

Cooking steps for Drumstick Soup

  1. 1
Gather all the ingredients needed for the soup and prepare them.
  2. 2
Chop the drumsticks into 2-inch pieces for fresh, green, and tender pieces.
  3. 3
Chop half a cup of onions and potatoes to chop relatively, and add body to the soup.
  4. 4
Heat 1 Tsp butter in a pressure cooker over medium flame.
  5. 5
    Once melted, begin to sizzle.
  6. 6
Add the chopped onions, potatoes, and cut drumsticks.
  7. 7
Stir occasionally to coat vegetables evenly with butter, about 2 minutes. In this manner, the vegetables get soft and begin to release the flavour to the soup.
  8. 8
Add 2 cups of water to the pressure cooker after saut ing.
  9. 9
Mix gently, allowing the vegetables and water to mix. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles. This pressure cooking will help soften the drumstick and potatoes, which will grind easily.
  10. 10
Once the pressure cooking is done, switch off the flame and allow all pressure to release before you can open the lid.
  11. 11
Pull out the cooked drumstick and vegetable mixture once the pressure has dropped and you can safely open the lid. Pour the contents into a blender, and add half a cup of milk and another 1 1/2 cups of water. Process everything so smooth and creamy. This process forms the foundation of the soup as all of the flavours from the vegetables and drumsticks are well mixed around the soup.
  12. 12
Fine straining must be done to the blended soup to make it smooth. This will eliminate the fibrous particles of the drumstick that were not crushed during the blending process and render it silky and without lumps. Just as much liquid as can be squeezed out needs to be wrung from what is left to pulp using a spoon.
  13. 13
Pour the strained mixture back into the deep, non-stick pan. Put it over medium heat and season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer the soup, stirring occasionally, so the flavours can meld together. Cook the soup for about 3 minutes total until it reaches your preferred temperature.
  14. 14
Once the soup reaches the desired consistency and has the right flavour, please remove it from the stove. Your piping hot drumstick soup is served. Pour piping hot creamy soup into bowls. Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper or add a drizzle of olive oil on top, if you want.
  15. 15
You can serve drumstick soup as a light meal or appetiser. Instead, you can serve it with some crusty bread on the side or a lighter salad. Alternatively, you may serve it in rice or as a sandwich for a more filling meal.
