Paneer banana stem paratha with ghee is a healthy, succulent Indian flatbread that combines the goodness of paneer or Indian cottage cheese and banana stem with rich ghee or clarified butter. Such a paratha is highly packed with proteins, fibres, and essential nutrients, making it the perfect meal for lunch or breakfast. The ghee is added at the end, giving the paratha a rich, crisper flavour; a flavourful dish becomes even more divine. Begin by making the filling. The banana stem is cut into fine pieces and saut d until soft by removing excess water. The paneer is crumbled fresh and mixed with spices, including cumin, coriander powder, garam masala, and a pinch of salt for taste. Chopped onions, green chillies, and coriander leaves give a lot of flavour. Then, this stuffing is filled with whole wheat dough, and rolled parathas are cooked on a hot tawa or griddle. Ghee is poured on both sides of the parathas during cooking to make them crispy and rich. It browns the paratha to golden and crisp. Thus, it creates a soft, flavourful paratha with a crunchy finish slightly outside and ends with a luxurious touch. Paneer steamed banana stem paratha is usually served with yoghurt, pickles, or raita. This gives the entire meal a complete and fulfilling experience. It perfectly merges the banana stem's nutritional benefits with the goodness of paneer protein, which is all nicely engulfed in a yummy paratha! It's a good, healthy, yet indulging meal!

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp banana stem
  • 2 tbsp paneer
  • 0.25 tsp jeera
  • 0.25 tsp dry mango powder
  • 0.25 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 0.25 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Paneer banana stem paratha with ghee is a very healthy dish. Start with gathering all the ingredients: wheat flour - 3 tablespoons, paneer - 2 tablespoons, finely crumbled and dry mango powder (amchur) - 1/4 teaspoon, ghee - 1 teaspoon, banana stem - 1 tablespoon, finely chopped, jeera (cumin seeds) - 1/4 teaspoon, and red chilli powder ¼ teaspoon and a pinch of salt to taste. All these ingredients come together as a delicious dough to be relished.
  • Peel the tough outer layers. Slice the inner white core into thin pieces. The banana stem has a mild flavour but is full of health benefits, such as helping digest and providing more fibre. Once you chop the banana stem fine, set it aside.
  • Wheat flour, crumbled paneer, and finely cut banana stem in a mixing bowl. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Use a proper mix so the ingredients are evenly spread, be it the paneer, banana stem, or spices.
  • Add water slowly into it, little by little, and form a soft dough.
  • Knead the dough for a few minutes till it is smooth and pliable.
  • Divide the prepared dough into as many small, equal-sized balls as possible. Roll each ball between your palms to get smooth, round dough balls.
  • Continue flattening each dough ball using the rolling pin to shape it like a paratha. If the dough sticks to the rolling pin or surface, lightly dust it with some flour to prevent sticking.
  • Heat a tawa or griddle on medium-high heat and add a little ghee.
  • Once the tawa is hot, put the rolled-out paratha on it and cook for a couple of minutes.
  • Flip the paratha to cook the other side when the surface bubbles. Add a wee bit of ghee on top of the paratha and then flip again to ensure both sides turn golden brown.
  • Continue this process with the remaining dough balls so each paratha becomes a perfect golden-brown affair. This recipe of Paneer Banana Stem Paratha with ghee is guaranteed to carve out some good space in the meal rotation as it provides an extremely healthy yet indulgent option to opt for any time of the day.
